Pauline's obituary

Pauline Conner Clark age 94 died at the Alleghany Health and Rehab Center in Clifton Forge, VA on Sunday November 10th 2019 after losing a long battle with kidney cancer. Pauline was predeceased in death by her mother Blanche Craft Dean and her father Charles Waitmer Conner, as well as her late husband Richard Gordon Clark.

She is survived by one son Stephen T. Clark and his wife Linda C. Clark of Live Oak, Florida; 5 grand children, Stephen Michael Clark, Tonya Marie Clark and Christopher Ryan Clark, all of Live Oak, Florida; Amber Renee Clark of Cookeville, Tennessee and Lisa Lynn Clark of Houston, Texas. Pauline is also survived by 2 sisters and 1 brother, Doris A. Dudding of Chesterfield, VA, Shirley C. Nicely of Hopewell, VA and Johnny L. Dean of Vero Beach, Florida. Also numerous nieces, nephews, great grand children and many wonderful friends.

Pauline was born in Longdale, Virginia on July the 30th 1925 and spent most of her life in the Clifton Forge area. For the past 15 years she lived in Scott Hill Apartments (unit 304) with her best friend and caretaker Arlean Frye who loved Pauline dearly and considered her family. Arlene's many visits with Pauline during her final days in the nursing home are greatly appreciated. Also a special thanks to Joyce Conner for her phone calls and visits to check on Pauline during this time, both of you are saints. Your love and concern for my mother will never be forgotten.

Mom always began her days with a morning cup of coffee, she loved to cook and her favorite game was Bingo. She also loved to read her Bible and she really enjoyed writing, especially poetry and song lyrics. She loved people and really enjoyed chatting with family and friends, she was never too busy for that. She was a long time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Mom had great faith in God and had no fear of her serious illness. From her death bed she penned these final words in the front of her Bible; "Mom's Bible, Read all you can Steve. God has been good to us. Take care of Linda and the grand children. I have cancer on my right kidney. I love you, mom." I also found these words written on several notes inside her Bible; "Death is not the end. Jesus
promised us everlasting life. I am happy He did!! He will keep his promise!!" "God takes care of His own, don't worry about me, OK. Heaven is a better place." and one last note which meant the world to me personally; "Steve, you have been a blessing to me, mom"

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be sent to the American Cancer Society in the hope a cure may be found for this terrible disease. Her ashes will be scattered on her son's home place in Live Oak, Florida to forever remind him of the wonderful mother he was so blessed to have for nearly 60 years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
