Paulina Ofosua Hanson, age 70, died at Mount Sinai- South Nassau hospital in Oceanside, NY on February 9, 2021. She was a graduate of Accra Girls Senior High School in Ghana. Paulina’s attended midwifery school at Okomfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana, and nursing school at Korle Bu in Accra, Ghana. Upon moving to New York City in 1974 with her young son Nana Kojo, she earned her LPN at the Helene Fuld College Nursing followed by her BSN at Adelphi University. She worked as an obstetrics nurse for 40 years at Beth Israel Medical Center.

Mrs. Hanson was a voracious reader and had a love for cooking and event planning. A true family woman, she never missed a birthday and devoted much of her free time to caring for her five grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Kojo Karikari, their three children Gerald Karikari, Esq. of Brooklyn, NY, Ama Karikari-Yawson, Esq. of Freeport, NY and Queenette Karikari-Young of Freeport, NY and five grandchildren Jojo, Gerry, Grace Ofosua, Miles and Aria. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Those she'll meet in heaven include her mother Margaret Asamoah, father George Armah Hanson, and brother Awere-Awuku, Esq.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, February 26th followed by private funeral services on Saturday. February 27th.

Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone with whom she interacted.
