How you can help
Pauline battled with scoliosis for nearly her whole life. The severity of the curves and treatment required was not available for decades. In fact, technology only caught up to treat her severe case with 67+ degree curves when she was in her 70s.
To stabilize her spine she went through a double hip replacement, two neck spacer surgeries, and three spinal fusions. One of which eventually broke, but worked well enough to allow her to continue pilates, gardening and many of her passions.
The disfigurement the scoliosis caused put pressure on her lungs and rotated her heart in her chest, which eventually led to the lung and heart failure she succumbed to.
Our daughter and dear friend's daughter had spinal fusion for their serious scoliosis cases in their mid-teens and have played sports and thrived, due to the progress to beat and care for this difficult disease.
We ask that you give to the Children's Scoliosis Foundation to support treatment and technology that will make scoliosis easier or non-existent for future generations. Pauline blazed a trail not only for scoliosis, but for career women, philanthropy, and giving back. We love and miss her dearly, and wish to show our support through giving.
