Paula's obituary

Paula Stephanie (Trosko) Smith, 71, of Wilmington, NC passed away Monday, September 9, 2019 at 5:35pm. She was born April 30th, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY to Peter and Helen (Klockel) Trosko.

Paula is preceded in death by her parents Peter and Helen Trosko, and her husband Warren Denis Smith. She longed to be reunited with her first love and husband in the years after his death, she passed on their wedding anniversary and they are now reunited. Paula is survived by her two sons, Warren and Benjamin Smith, daughters in law Amelia and Rachael, granddaughters Isabella, Kyla, and Azza, and sister Helen Smith.

Paula was a 1965 graduate of Tilden School in Brooklyn, NY. She married Warren in 1967 and they moved to upstate New Jersey were she was a loving homemaker to her husband their sons. After retirement, Paula settled with her husband in Wilmington, NC where they opened and ran ‘The Bagel Basket’. She ran the business and cared for her love for 5+ years during his battle with terminal illness. Paula sold The Bagel Basket after her husbands passing. In her final years you could find her traveling the country and world, volunteering with various political campaigns, or enjoying a glass of wine and great food among family and friends, she was affectionately known as “MAA!!” to many.

Paula requested a small and intimate remembrance for her (TBD), and for her remains to be released into the Atlantic on an outgoing tide, at an undisclosed time and place, to be with her husband.

In lieu of cards and flowers, the family requests donations be made in Paula’s honor to Operation 300. Mail to Operation 300, PO Box 3, Port Salerno, FL 34992.
