It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paula Powers, who left this world on March 29, 2026, at the age of 60. Paula was born on May 16, 1965, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Janell Shook and Paul Gentry. She was a beacon of love and warmth to all who knew her.
Paula was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Janell and Paul, her cherished husband, Scott Powers, her brothers, Jerry and Louis Kish, and her brother-in-law, Tommy Truit. Despite these profound losses, Paula remained a source of strength and love for her family and friends.
Paula is survived by her sons, Christopher Powers and Brandon Powers, and his wife Tiffany, whom Paula always cherished as a daughter. She was a proud and loving grandmother to three beautiful granddaughters: Trinity, Max, and Bree. Paula's legacy of love continues through her sister Kerry and her four daughters, Ashley, Jessica, Christine, and Casey, as well as her sister Niki and her three children. Her Brother in Mark Powers and sister in laws Dawn Truitt and Denise Lore. Plus many more family and friends.
On December 5, 1985, Paula married the love of her life, Scott Powers. They shared 38 wonderful years together, filled with love and laughter, before Scott's untimely passing in 2021. Their home was the heart of the family, and it was there that countless cherished memories were made, particularly during the Easter Eggstravaganzas that Paula and Scott hosted. These gatherings became beloved traditions, eagerly anticipated by all who attended.
Paula had an infectious zest for life, and her vibrant spirit was evident in everything she did. She had a passion for playing Bingo and visiting WinStar Casino, where she found joy and excitement. But more than her hobbies, it was Paula's boundless love for her family and friends that defined her. She was a selfless, loving soul who would do anything for anyone. Her warmth and generosity left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her friends fondly recalled, "Paula loved big! She adored her family and would do anything for anybody." Her love of life and her ability to make others feel special were qualities that made Paula truly unique. She had an extraordinary gift for making people feel valued and loved, and her presence brought joy to every room she entered.
Paula's family wishes to share this special message: "Paula will be so missed by everyone who has ever met her. She was one of a kind." Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her legacy of love will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A celebration of Paula's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the extraordinary life she lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Paula's memory to a charity of your choice, spreading the love and kindness that she embodied throughout her life.
