Paul's obituary
Paul Michael Wilson
October 9, 1958 – August 8, 2025
If you ever met Paul Michael Wilson, or “Bagga,” “Pablo,” “Big Mike,” depending on how you knew him, chances are, you left with a smile on your face and maybe a belly ache from laughing too hard. Paul had a gift for making people feel like family, and for many, he actually was.
Born on October 9, 1958, in Kingston, Jamaica, to Clifford and Laura Wilson, Paul grew up surrounded by a lively household of siblings: Marva, Lionel, Donna, Janet, Sharon, Donovan, and Karl. He attended Stratford High, where he shined both in the classroom and on the field, playing football (soccer) in every position, even goalkeeper, and holding his own as a cricket bowler.
In Jamaica, Paul worked at Seprod, but adventure called. In 1985, he moved to the United States, landing in New York City where life would change in more ways than one. There, he met Alma, the love of his life, and gained a stepdaughter, Tracey, who he loved as his own. Paul also started his own newspaper route in the Bronx, a job that let him combine two things he loved: driving and connecting with people. Over the years, he also worked with FreshDirect in New York and later, after moving to Melbourne, Florida in 2018, became a familiar face to many as the guy who’d get you to the airport on time with a good story along the way.
Paul was never just about work. He was President of the BCASCA Domino Club in Melbourne, a role that suited him perfectly, because if there were dominos, there was laughter, friendly competition, and reggae music playing in the background.
Music was the soundtrack of Paul’s life, reggae especially, and family and friends were his favorite audience. He was the life of the party, the one who could get anyone dancing or crack a joke just when you needed it most. His favorite saying, “Soon Come,” summed up his easygoing spirit, but also the way people counted on him.
To his nieces and nephews, he wasn’t just Uncle Paul, he was the favorite uncle. The one you called when you needed your spirits lifted. The one who made you feel seen, heard, and loved.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Alma; stepdaughter, Tracey; his siblings Lionel, Donna, Sharon, and Karl; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will carry his laughter and light with them always. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Laura; his siblings Marva, Janet, and Donovan.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held September 13, 2025 9am Mt. Moriah Baptist. In true Paul fashion, it will be filled with music, stories, and laughter, just the way he would want it.
Because for Paul, life was always about connection. About joy. About love. And even though he’s gone, the party he started will go on in every heart he touched.
