I had no idea. We were class mates and reconnected around 2022.
I have thought of Paul over the years.  He lived with the Tallmadges for a year while his Mom had to go into the hospital.  My name is Norma Tallmadge Hunter and I’m 5 years older than Paul.  At one time he, brother and parents lived on my parents property in a trailer.  When she dot pregnant with Sue they moved away.  We saw them off and on but I moved to Texas when I married.  I’m so happy to know how he turned out.  He was like a brother as I’m an only child.  Just looked in one of my closets finding 2 small pics of him.  So sorry for your loss and wish I had found him sooner.  Norma Tallmadge Hunter.  My email is Nahpwh@yahoo.com

Paul has held a special place in our hearts. He was a godly man with a heart for God. He was persistent, never giving up, with a cheerful spirit. I’ve always respected the fact that he was a missionary in the Ukraine. During one of his stops back here, he stayed with us for several lovely months. It was always a joy to see him. The last year or so Paul was looking worn. I’m glad he is at peace now. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and all those who have a spot in their hearts for Paul. God’s blessings on you. Paul was a faithful man who took what he had: compassion, friendship, consistency, faith, and understanding, and gave himself away to others - particularly in Ukraine. His is a 'quiet' inspration that is oft overlooked, yet deeply impactful among those who were/are touched by his life and story.

Paul was a gentle and humble man - qualities oft overlooked in the here and now, yet eternally treasured. Those who got close to him csught the aroma of grace and saw the shine of divine connection. My own interactions were brief, yet Paul's heart left a lasting impression. His servant-heart will be felt long after he has passed from us, and many will join him as a result.
i had the privilege of serving with Paul as volunteers with the CCX university ministry organzation in Ukraine. In spite of crippling arthritis and destructive diabetes, Paul pressed on to share the Good News and love of Jesus Christ with just about everybody he met:)  He loved Ukraine and i know how sad he was that he did not get to go back one last time to say goodbye.  Rest in peace, brother. Enter in, faithful servant!

I met Paul over thirty years ago at Valley Brook. However, five or six years ago Paul came to sing at church. His joy and love was evident while he was singing. To me it seemed he was continually growing in compassion and kindness.

When I first met Paul we were singing baritone for our Christmas concerts. We enjoyed it, had a lot of fun, and I've appreciated his encouragement over the years. I’ll miss him, and look forward to seeing him at the celebration in heaven.

Paul was a very nice man and a genuinely good person.   It's good to know that his suffering is over and that he's at home and at peace forever.
We were so blessed to get to know Paul as a friend.  We were in email contact since we live abroad and received a last email from him for CHRISTmas this last December.

Paul schickel is one of the greatest unsung hero missionaries I have ever known. Paul stayed the course in Ukraine working to make disciples. Paul and I were part of the same team to Ukraine for a while. He went over permanently I stayed in the US. Paul was one gregarious, living from the heart brother. He often came on Christmas day to share Christmas with my family and  bring gifts and treats for my kids and family before going to the next household.

Paul might step into your life uninvited, but when he left you we're glad he did.

As I recal he never tried at European Ministry  GCM to be Mr popular, and was probably overlooked. Of all the missionaries that went to Ukraine, Paul stayed the course anyway he could, so that he could live to bless and disciple people.

Always positive, never condemning never negative. Once I was having an issue with an HR Managers  insensitivity. And, in speaking about it to Paul, he pulled me up, and in love said, "Ben you need to go to him, and resolve your hurt or just forgive him."

I did so and became a better man because of Paul.

I've only shed a few tears when people die,  my mother, my older brother and Paul Shickle.

He's up there in heaven now with people he and I both knew that went before us.

All is at peace and rest in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, God the Father and those circling the throne as described in Revelations four.

One day that Gathering will disperse come to the Earth where we will meet Jesus face to face in the air.

And with them will eventually reign a thousand years in the new Millennial Kingdom with Jesus and after that watch the Earth be completely destroyed and a new Heaven and a new Earth spoken into existence by Father God according to Revelations 22 where peace and joy and righteousness will reign.

Paul, we know right now, right where you are, and that you're celebrating before the Throne of God and fired up in the presence of the glory.

[RIP] Rejoice In Presence]

I knew Paul for years. He was a very special person. he loved people. he will be deeply missed. My sympathy to his brother and sister and children and all those that knew him around the world. enjoy your rest and the Lord Jesus my dear friend Paul

I worked with Paul for years in Ukraine. He loved people deeply and had an big impact on our family as well as our team and many Ukrainians. He finished well and is a great example of what God can do through one regular person who is fully committed to the Lord. Only God knows the extent of his influence. I look forward to joining him in heaven with Jesus.
In the early years of Great Commission / Valleybrook Community Church we’d go Christmas caroling door to door and Paul always went and sang beautifully, but without a coat!  No matter what the temperature He’d simply say “the cold doesn’t bother me!”  Over the years we continued to talk about his missionary travels and he was always helpful, enthusiastic and encouraging about life and walking with Jesus. He truly made a real, genuine and positive impression on me and so many people for our Lord. My heart is sad yet lifted to know he is singing in the arms of our Savior where the coldness of this life really won’t bother him…!
Paul was a friend from ValleyBrooke  church- many fun memories of gatherings after church at his home and Super Bowl parties-
