Paul's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather Paul Eugene Shedlock, of Oro Valley, Arizona. Paul passed away from natural causes on April 16, 2024 in Oro Valley, Arizona.

Paul was an electrical and reliability engineer for 40 years, including the last 33 at Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson, Arizona (formerly known as Hughes and General Dynamics). Paul was proud of the work he did and the impact he left on the industry.

An avid bowler early in life, Paul's bowling travels took him across the country (in an RV sometimes) and his love of cribbage, the San Diego Padres and the Arizona Wildcats will never be forgotten. Paul showed up for his family- all the time and every time- and sacrificed so much so that the generations that followed him could have a better life than he had growing up. That will be his eternal legacy.

Paul's life took him from West Palm Beach, Florida, to Alaska, to Santa Monica, California (among other places.) Paul met and eventually married Jeannie Bigelow on September 9, 1978, to whom he was faithfully married and devoted for 45 years. Paul and Jeannie had two sons together- Andrew and Brian- and raised them to be hard working and devoted husbands, professionals and fathers to their own kids.

Before and especially during retirement, Paul relished phone calls, FaceTimes and postcards with his grandchildren, faithfully commemorating special events for those he loved. An avid and devoted attendee of Grace Community Covenant Church for over 30 years, Paul was active in Men's Group, administration of the Benevolence Fund and supporting the church in numerous other ways. His dedication and commitment will be missed.

Paul's greatest accomplishments are the legacy he left and example he set for his family, friends and co-workers in dedication, commitment and faithfulness to those he loved. As we celebrate Jesus Christ welcoming Paul into his home, we can confidently say: Well done, good and faithful servant. Bravo Zulu!

Paul is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jeannie, sons Andrew Shedlock (Megan) and Brian Shedlock (Kristi), grandchildren Molly, Elliott, West and Vivian, and sister Catherine Stern (Chris). Paul is preceded in his death by his parents Paul and Helen Shedlock.

A funeral service and celebration of Paul's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Grace Community Covenant Church at 9755 N. La Cholla Blvd, Tucson, Arizona, 85742.
