Sorry for the loss of a good man. We grew up in College Alaska and went to the same schools and played basketball and baseball on the same teams. Paul and his family were always a positive influence for me and many others.
Do you have my condolences. You both were so generous with your time you definitely touched my life. Praying for comfort for you and your family.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Paul.  I greatly enjoyed our many conversations and being around such a kind soul.  Prayers to your family in such a terrible time.
Karen, I'm so sorry for the loss of your precious dad. I truly loved reading about him as father to you, husband to your mom and stepmom, grandfather to your boys and a Christian and servant to others . Your family was and is blessed. I have been praying and will continue my friend. Pls know that your brothers and sister in Christ in Columbia love you!
Please accept my deepest condolence upon the passing of your dad. I have nothing but great memories of our many interactions. He was one of the nicest people I ever met.

I had the privilege of being a part of the same graduate class at NNU as Paul. I truly enjoyed each time I got the opportunity to talk with him during our 3 years in that program. He was such a gentle man with many experiences he would quietly share. I had a reverence for him and his wisdom and grace.

My heart aches for the family he often talked about with a twinkle in his eye. My own heart is heavy as I reflect with appreciation on the brief time I got to know him. He will be missed.

Paul was a wonderful man in the Fairbanks community. I met him through his support of Young Life and working with his kids in that ministry. Watching God work in him and through him as he married Kathy to build a new and larger family was so encouraging to me as a young man. He walked his talk and kept the faith. Shocked and sad today just now, but thankful to have known him. God speed to him and encouragement to all his family.
I have many childhood memories of Paul at Camp LiWa, where his dad Don was the director and his mom Ruth ran the kitchen!  Paul's cabin and mine played many tricks on one another, had a lot of fun together in canoes on Lake LiWa, and I remember Paul's kindness--he didn't have a mean bone in his body, even as a boy.  He was especially good to my family when my father died in 1992, and his parents and mine were good friends.  I moved away from Fairbanks after high school so rarely saw Paul after that, but I believe every word that his friends and family have said about his lovingkindness.  I'm so very sorry for his sudden passing, and I know I speak for all the Hartley kids when I express our deep condolences.  I have seen Paul's daughter Karen's post on Facebook, so if she reads this, I want her to know that I am in Durham NC, not so far from her in Hope Mills, and if there is a way I can be helpful, please use my contact information here to reach me.

I was shocked to read this. A kind of a man as I have ever known

So very sorry for your loss!  Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.  The Kindells
So sorry to hear about Paul’s passing. I remember Paul as a kind and cheerful person. I know from experience how hard it is to lose a sibling, you are never complete again. Paul in now in God’s loving arms and whole again. You are all in my prayers.
As best man at our wedding, Paul masterminded the kidnapping of my new wife from our wedding reception. He and two other guys escorted her blindfolded to a local McDonald's where they set her on a table and sang to her, "You deserve a break today, so get up and get away to McDonald's". They then called me at my inlaw's house demanding a ransom to return her to me. Paul was a prankster.
So  very sorry John my thoughts and prayers for you and your family
