Paul's obituary
Paul San Roman, a man of distinct character and immense love for life, was born on October 10, 1959, and passed away on March 25, 2026. His parents were Ygnacia and Fidencio San Roman, and he had 5 siblings, Jessie, Max, Rick, Joe and Rita. His unique blend of humor, generosity, and love for all things Minnesotan made him a cherished individual by all who knew him.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, and his 2 brothers Rick and Jessie San Roman, and is survived by his son Thomas and Victoria San Roman, his brothers Max San Roman, Joe San Roman and sister Rita Nelson. He is also survived by his partner Carol Nyland Donnelly, and his ex-wife Margarita Castillon.
Paul was an avid music lover, and had collected hundreds of albums over his life, including those on vinyl, VHS, CDs, DVDs and Bl-Ray. He had a particular affinity for the music of the 70s, with the Beatles being his favorite band of all time. He loved video games, was a fan of all Minnesota sports teams, and loved cats so much that for nearly 40 years he owned one, and he even extended his care to random squirrels and birds, feeding them with his leftovers , dodging them if they appear on the road, and helping them if they got stuck on something
Renowned for his steadfast work ethic, one of Paul's greatest accomplishments was maintaining a job with the MPLS school district as an engineer for 36 years until his retirement. Throughout his career, he amassed a cadre of friends among his coworkers, showcasing his knack for creating strong and lasting relationships.
Paul's generosity extended not only to his kin but also to his community. He had a strong interest in the welfare of the school teachers and engineers of the Minneapolis School District, always showing concern for their well-being, and some of them were also his lottery friends, demonstrating how much he meant to the staff of Anne Sullivan School.
He leaves behind a legacy of generosity and caring for his friends, colleagues, family, and his son, Thomas San Roman, who now works for the same school district, inspired by his father's spirit and his friendship with everyone who worked with him, and his daughter, Victoria San Roman, who has inherited his love of classic rock and generous nature to those he cared about.
One profound lesson that he shared with those close to him was that words aren't the only way to express love. He often demonstrated this sentiment through his actions, be it through his dedication to his job, his passion for his hobbies, or his routine acts of kindness by asking about how your day was or how your job was going, and buying you whatever you wanted, even if you’ve only shown a slight interest in it, and sharing his hobbies with you whenever you interacted with him.
A memorial fund, "Help with Paul and Tom San Roman’s Upcoming Expenses", has been established in Paul's honor. Those wishing to contribute may do so at the following URL: https://everloved.com/life-of…
