Paul's obituary

Paul Joseph Mason Jr., 58, passed away on December 29, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud Marine, Paul lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love for his family.

Born on March 16, 1967, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Paul was the son of the late Paul J. Mason Sr. and Elizabeth "Betty" Mason. From an early age, he demonstrated a strong sense of duty and commitment that would define his life’s path.

Paul served honorably in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant (GYSGT). His military career spanned from March 1986 to March 2006 and included assignments in Quantico, Virginia; New Orleans, Louisiana; Riverside and Camp Pendleton in California; as well as multiple WestPac deployments and overseas tours in Japan. His time in the Marines instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and pride that remained with him throughout his life.

Following his military service, Paul pursued higher education at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He earned both a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics and a Master of Science in Management—achievements that reflected his lifelong passion for aviation.

With over three decades of experience in the aviation field, Paul found his dream job working for Amentum on the base in Corpus Christi. This role brought him full circle to the work he loved most—supporting aviation operations much like he had during his military service.

Paul was known for his happy and laid-back nature. He cherished time spent with his family and especially enjoyed beach trips together. Whether it was relaxing by the shore or simply being surrounded by loved ones, these moments brought him great joy.

He also had a deep appreciation for cars—particularly driving and working on his beloved Camaro. It was one of many ways he expressed his love for mechanics and motion.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Wendy Mason; daughter Heather Gutierrez and her husband Alex; son Paul J. Mason III; granddaughter Elena Gutierrez; and grandson Alejandro Gutierrez. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Kevin Mason.

A man who gave so much to both country and family, Paul will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty, gentle spirit, and enduring love. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Funeral Service will be held on February 6, 2026, at 10:15 AM at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy Dallas Tx.
