Paul's obituary
Paul Stephen Laursen, former editor of Merrick and Bellmore Life, The Wantagh Seaford Citizen and The Freeport Baldwin Leader, purchased by Richner in 2013, died Tuesday at home in North Bellmore. He was 67.
Active at the family newspaper group since graduating from American University in 1977, he was a longtime member of Merrick Kiwanis, Merrick Lions and the Historical Society of the Merricks.. He was also a longtime member of the Long Island Lodge 325 Danish Brotherhood in America.
He loved the beach, outdoor concerts and exploring "the greatest city in the world," NYC. He had traveled extensively in Europe, especially Denmark, and been on press tours to South Africa and China, on church tours to Ireland, Israel, Egypt and Germany, as well as to Mexico.
In addition to extended family in Denmark, Spain and North Carolina, he leaves a brother, Dr. John Christian Laursen of Riverside, California, sister-in-law Dr. Teresa Toscano, niece Clara Laursen, nephew Lucas Laursen and his wife, Gabriela Lendo and children Olivia and Matias. He also leaves his sister Linda Laursen Toscano and brother-in-law Dr. Nicolas Toscano, of Rockville Centre, nephew Jose Toscano and his wife, Arlene, and children Luis and Anna, niece Dr. Carolina Toscano and her husband Borja De Merlo and children Alba Mae and Emma, and niece Cristina Tierney and husband Paul Tierney, and children Faith and Ava.
