Paul Michael Joyce, age 72, passed away December 6, 2020, at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary with his son by his side and his daughter virtually present. Paul will forever be loved by his son Kris (Joy) and their daughters (Mia and Ella-Jean); his daughter Mandi (Jamie) and their kids (Mackenzie and Jackson); his sisters Elaine and Karen and their families; his late wife Diane, brother Dave and parents Miriam and Timothy; and many other family and friends. Paul worked in the oil and gas industry including many years at Husky Oil before retiring and spending time with his late wife, Diane, in the same home they shared for over 40 years. He was quick witted, smart, funny, kind, loved watching sports including his favourite hockey team, Calgary Flames, and soccer team, Manchester United, which he said was a birthright from having been born in Manchester, England. He also played several sports when he was younger including curling, baseball and darts. He and his wife travelled the world before having kids and deciding to move from Drayton Valley, Alberta, to the big city of Calgary. He loved spending time with his four grandchildren and always told them how much he loved them and how proud he was of them. He was a person others could rely on for sound advice and motivation. As an Irishman who had kissed the Blarney Stone, he was also blessed to have the gift of the gab. He was dearly loved and will be missed by many. To all those, an old Irish saying, “May your grief be as brief as a falling leaf at the closing of the day."
