Paul's obituary
Paul Shervington Jacobs.
Paul went home to be with his Lord and Savior, peacefully at Memorial Regional Hospital South in the wonderful care of AccentCare Hospice of Broward in Hollywood, Florida on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026. Paul was 76 years old at the time of his passing. He was predeceased by his father and mother Victor and Millicent Jacobs, as well as brothers Allan and Michael as well as son, Adam. Paul is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Paul (Jr) and Maricarmen, daughter and son-in-law Samantha and Jean. Paul was a beloved grandfather who adored his eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Paul’s very large personality and outgoing spirit will be remembered by all those who knew him as family, friends, neighbors or countless automobile business customers.
Paul lived his life as he worked with passion and determination. He was born in Kington, Parish, Jamaica at Victoria Jubilee Hospital (initially known as the Victoria Jubilee Lying-In Hospital) on Monday, the 8th day of August, 1949 to Millicent Alexandra Jacobs (Russell) and Victor Talmage Jacobs. He later emigrated with his parents to Darlington (County Durham) England, United Kingdom at the age of five years old. He attended Darlington’s Eastbourne Boys Secondary Modern School and then later earning a certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics before relocating to North America. After emigrating to Canada in the late sixties, he graduated from Parkdale High School in 1969 before attending Humber College in Toronto, Ontario. Paul dedicated his life to the automobile business, whether as a mechanic for Jacobs Garage (later Jacobs Auto Safety Center) owned and run by his father Victor or as in sales for many dealerships from Thorncrest Ford in Etobicoke to Figueredo Chevrolet (Miami, FL), JM Pontiac (Hollywood, FL), Monarch Dodge (Lauderdale Lakes, FL) and University Dodge (Davie, FL) where he retired in 2018. Working over 40 years in the automobile industry, Paul earned many awards and distinctions, such as being the No# 13 Top Salesman in the Southeastern United States for Dodge-Chrysler during his career. But more importantly, his spiritual life sprung forth from his upbringing in the Anglican church and until his health became a greater challenge, he attended Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church. Father Anthony Holder and Paul had many conversations of family and faith.
While his health limited his regular, everyday activities, Paul still made time for his family during holidays, vacation and special occasions. He enjoyed a variety of outings like visiting his favorite restaurants, Le Tub (Hollywood Beach) or Chili’s, but his true enjoyment came when traveling to the beautiful Florida Keys… if you close your eyes, you can still see that satisfied smile with every bite of his beloved key lime pie. Paul, Dad, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend will be missed!
