Paul's obituary

On January 24th 2025, the world lost a true original- Paul J. Fleming. Proud American, proud to be from Northern Maine, loved his home community in Norwalk, CT and his second home in Montauk, NY. True to his Maine roots he was all about fishing, boating, hunting and snowmobiling - even into his 80’s. He loved Maine beans, blueberries, potatoes, and whoopie pies. If it wasn’t from Maine, it wasn’t as good! He truly lived every minute of his 84 years to the fullest - driving and working just up until the end. He loved dogs- especially his “grandogs” 🐾. He was a hardworking business man. He loved his friends and his clubs (Ischoda, Ducks/Trout Unlimited, Safari Club), but what he loved the most was his family - that he proudly built with his “beautiful bride” - Agnes. Nothing made Paul happier than a family gathering. He especially loved spending time with his 3 grandkids. His face would light up when he would see them. He couldn’t wait to take them every season to the Sugar Bowl diner in Darien to see the holiday decor and buy them a little gift across the street at CVS. Or take them to his club’s Christmas party every year or be out on the boat with them. Paul was a proud parent, and he and Agnes provided their children, Margaret and Brian, with a life full of love, guidance, and support. Their gratitude for the foundation of love they were given is immeasurable. Paul will be greatly missed. We honor his memory every day by passing along to the next generation all that he held dear.

Paul Fleming is survived by his wife of 56 years, Agnes as well as his children Margaret (Sean) O’Brien, Brian (Viviane) Fleming and three grandchildren, Grace Rose, Kevin and David.

Paul was born on May 27th, 1940 and grew up in Calais, Maine. He graduated from Husson College in Maine with a BS in Accounting. He spent 2 years in the US Army at Loring Air Force base from 1962-1964. From 1964-1984 he worked as an Internal Auditor for Texaco in New York City. In 1985, Paul found his true passion in managing personal real estate, a career he pursued until his passing.

A funeral mass will be held at Saint Matthew Church, April 5th at 10:30 am, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk CT 06854. A Celebration of Life reception will be held following the mass at Odeen's Restaurant at Oak Hills Golf Course, 165 Fillow Street, Norwalk CT 06850.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Paul’s enduring legacy.
