Reverend Paul Wayne Hensley, 66, of Waynesville, NC, passed away on March 29th, 2024.

Paul was born the eldest of three sons to George Robert Hensley and Peggy (Bond) Hensley in Norfolk, England on November 28th, 1957, Thanksgiving Day.

In 1977, Paul met Debbi Caldwell in Homestead, FL, and they married on October 14th, 1978. Paul and Debbi went on to have three girls, Kristin, Mandy and Stacey. Paul was surrounded by women his entire life, as even their animals were female – he never had a chance.

Paul’s legacy of being a pastor extends throughout his life. He became a pastor in 1986 and has served faithfully as the Executive Pastor of Life Church of Waynesville for over 27 years. He had a passion for Jesus and people. In addition to his flock, his heart was to serve and support other pastors.

Paul was preceded in death by brother Dale Hensley, mother Peggy Hensley and nephew Christopher Hensley. He is survived by his wife Debbi Hensley of Waynesville, NC, father George Hensley of Fayetteville, TN, brother Glenn Hensley (Lori) of Spartanburg, SC, daughters Kristin Baisden (Mike) of Columbus, OH, Mandy Artley (Adam) of Waynesville, NC, and Stacey Hensley Neumann of Baton Rouge, LA, grandchildren Parker and Kyleigh Baisden and Marlo, Wells and Cooper Neumann, nephew Dale Hensley (Sara) and children of Rogersville, AL, Jonathan Hensley (Cyndi) and children of Fletcher, NC, niece Tiffany Burton (Craig) and children of Mooresville, NC, Bryan Hensley and son of Spartanburg, SC and other family members.

Paul was a deeply beloved Pastor, son, husband, father, uncle, cousin, brother, and friend. His passing was sudden and unexpected, but his legacy left a deep impression on the many lives he touched.

We invite you to share in the Celebration of Life at Faith Community Church at 289 Industrial Park Dr., Waynesville, NC on Saturday, April 6th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to assist with expenses.
