Mike's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Michael Gleason, fondly known by his loved ones as Mike, on March 6, 2025. Mike, an emblem of strength, compassion and wit, was born on February 7, 1942. His journey of life, love, service and dedication to uplifting the spirits of those around him will forever be cherished.

Mike is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna,  who was also his best friend, daughters, Colleen Hartigan and her husband Jamie of Shapleigh, Maine and their two children, Emma and Madison, and Mary Menard and her husband Ken of Dracut, Massachusetts, and children Hollyann and Marshall.  He cherished his role as a father instilling values of love, respect, and kindness in his children, guiding them throughout life. One of his greatest joys was being with his grandchildren, who affectionately called him Papa.  Mike is also survived by his sisters Maureen (Molly) Sheehy and Patricia Noreau, both of Lowell, Massachusetts, many nieces, nephews, and friends.  He is predeceased by his brother Stephen, brothers-in-law Paul Sheehy and John Noreau, and good friend Fred England.  His absence has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his loved ones.

Mike's life was marked by notable accomplishments and a steadfast dedication to serving others. He proudly served his country in the Army between the Korean and Vietnam wars.  He continued to give back to others through his work at the Cutler Army Hospital at Fort Devens, Massachusetts and  the VA Hospital in Bedford, Massachusetts.  Upon retiring,  he provided support and kindness to elementary students with disabilities as a bus aide,

He never hesitated to lend a hand to friends and neighbors. He could often be found helping to set up for events at Keywood Manor  where he and Donna have resided for the past 12 years and where he leaves behind many friends

Mike was know for his great sense of humor and his caring personality.  He loved to tell stories and jokes, and loved nothing better than to talk politics or to catch the latest Patriots or Red Sox game.  This was a defining aspect of his personality, sparking lively discussions, debates and an enduring camaraderie among friends and family.

On Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM, we will gather to celebrate the beautiful life Mike led at the Keywood Manor Community Center at 85 Pools Crossing Rd in Alfred, Maine. Mike will be fondly remembered for his immense love for his family, his great sense of humor, and an ever-glowing spirit that continues to enrich the lives of those he left behind.
