Paul's obituary
Paul was born on March 28, 1943 in Walpole, MA to William and Genevieve (Paré) Gaffney. When he was 10 years old, his family moved to Los Gatos, CA, where he would later graduate with the class of 1960 from Los Gatos High School. On August 28, 1981 he married Fredrica, and they remained in Los Gatos to raise their children until 2008 when they moved to Claremore, Oklahoma.
Paul’s greatest joy was his children, and he loved to boast about them whenever he was given the opportunity. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his family and enjoyed talking to his “kids” on the phone as often as possible. He also loved to take road trips, and for many years he would tow his 38’ fifth wheel RV all around the United States. He particularly enjoyed stopping in Arizona to see the Grand Canyon and reminisce of the trips he and his friends took hiking to the bottom and back up. Among his other many hobbies throughout the years were off-roading, shooting guns, flying, and boating. He also had a love of WWII airplanes, and often enjoyed attending airshows with friends. He is remembered by all who met him for his big, boisterous laugh, his incredibly warm heart, his love of “oldies” country music, and for the way his smile reached all the way up to his bright, blue eyes.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, William, his mother, Genevieve, and his sister, JoAnne. He is survived by his wife, Fredrica of Glenpool, OK and his five children and their spouses: Dax and Victoria Gaffney of Copperopolis, CA; Danielle and Andrew Wall of Granbury, TX; Jonathan Rohde of San Jose, CA; Erin Gaffney of Sunnyvale, CA; and Nicholas and Jessica Gaffney of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by his four cherished grandchildren: Megan Swendsen, Kaila Gaffney, Isabella Rohde and Nathan Rohde.
At this time, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a public funeral service will not be held. A private gathering of immediate family may be held at a later time when his cremains are interred at Los Gatos Memorial Park next to his parents and sister in Los Gatos, California.
