Paul's obituary
Paul Laurence Busher, 92, of Huntington Beach, California, peacefully passed away on October 28, 2025 in Houston, Texas.
Paul was born in San Francisco, California, to the late Ruth Margaret Davis and Walter Paul Busher on January 13, 1934. On December 30, 1967, he married Margaret Ann Cleary in Los Angeles, California. They were married for fifty years and lived in Huntington Beach, California.
Paul attended Saint Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco, California, where he remained a lifelong active alumna, returning frequently for gatherings with his classmates. He graduated from the University of Santa Clara where he studied Civil Engineering. Upon finishing college, he was drafted into the United States Army. After his service, he began employment at Bechtel Corporation where he worked as a civil and structural engineer for most of his career. His work included dams, bridges, buildings, roads and nuclear power plants. His career took him throughout California, Texas, Georgia, South Korea and Spain. His family accompanied him on some of these trips and has fond memories of travel throughout Europe and the United States; however, they always returned to Huntington Beach, which they called home.
Paul was known for his adventurous spirit. He was a private pilot and certified on most types of non-jet fixed wing aircraft. He was also an avid boater and a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary where he taught many courses on weather and navigation, including celestial navigation. Additionally, he was a skilled draftsman, painter, welder and tinkerer.
Paul was predeceased by his wife, Margaret, and sister Joan Lillian Sinna (the late Thomas). He is survived by his two sons, Peter (Patricia) and Jay (Sharmayne); three grandchildren, Harold, Mary and Paul; and nieces Jennifer Sinna Tompkins (David) and Elizabeth Sinna Rittger (Guy).
