Patti Hackleman Williams, 71, of Oro Valley,  Arizona, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 6, 2024 at her daughter Melissa’s home in Tucson, Arizona. Due to her dementia, her brain could no longer tell her body to keep going and it finally gave out.

Patti was born on September 14, 1953 in Anderson, Indiana to James William and Bonnie Hackleman. After a childhood in Indiana she moved to Florida after high school where she worked at the Walt Disney World Emporium selling toys and dolls. She was also a secretary for a State Farm agency.

Later in her life she lived in California; Paris, France; Anderson, Indiana; Mesa, Arizona; Bluffton, SC; and Oro Valley, Arizona.

She had three (3) children of whom she was so proud. Melissa Brooke, who provided the utmost in loving care during Patti’s last year of life; Ashley Nicole, who predeceased Patti in 2018; and Nicholas Ryan of Elk Grove, California. She is also survived by Nick’s wife Kayla ,and Barry Herndon, her life partner since 2007.

Patti always had a smile on her face. Her favorite things in life were spending time with her children, hiking in the Superstition Mountains,  going to the many botanical gardens in Arizona, traveling to the small towns in Arizona with her life-long friend Penny Bixler (and John too), a little shopping with Penny along the way, caring for all the dogs and cats she and Barry rescued during their time together, vacations in Hilton Head where she was the life of the dance parties, and the numerous holiday pool parties at her Mesa home.

Patti was a voracious reader all her life and has left us with an untold number of classics to read.

There will be no public services. Should you wish to make a donation in Patti’s name, please do so to the animal rescue of your choice or to any Alzheimer’s charity.

Although Patti is gone from our lives here, her smile and love will forever live.

Patti, until we meet again, we will miss you and will love you forever.
