Patti's obituary

Patricia C. (Thomas) Hushon, 66, of Delta, PA, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, following a brief battle with liver and pancreatic cancer. Surrounded by her loving family and supported by hospice care, she left this earth to join her heavenly family.

Born on June 20, 1958, Patti was the second of two children born to the late Raymond and Ella Mae Thomas of Pylesville, MD. She graduated from North Harford High School in 1976, where she served as yearbook editor and earned a national award for her work.

Patti loved deeply—her family, her friends, and countless others she encountered throughout her life. A devout Christian, she dedicated herself to serving families in Maryland and Pennsylvania during their darkest hours. She founded the Gone Too Soon program in April of 2019, a ministry rooted in Christian love that supports families grieving the loss of an infant. This all-volunteer initiative provides comfort and dignity—typically at no cost—during one of life’s most painful experiences. Through Patti’s unwavering faith and determination, the program expanded to four Maryland hospitals and continues to be a beacon of compassion in the community.

Patti spent the majority of her career at Harkins Funeral Home, where she began working in 1994 to help fund her sons’ Catholic school education. Over the years, her role evolved significantly. Before retiring earlier this year, she managed many of the business’s day-to-day operations, working alongside her husband of four years, Jeffrey Lovelidge. Her genuine compassion and care made her a beloved and familiar face to many in the community.

Though she didn’t grow up on a farm, Patti embraced farm life in the early 1980s and spent two decades raising her sons—Joshua, Jacob, and Joseph—on farms in southern York County. A fierce advocate for her boys, she helped them build Brothers Three Brown Swiss into nationally recognized dairy cattle showing operation. Patti was also the visionary behind the Premier National Junior Shows in Harrisburg, PA, a national hub for dairy youth. Thanks to her leadership and passion, thousands of young people have had the opportunity to exhibit cattle, participate in educational activities, and grow as leaders. In recognition of her decade of service, she received the All-American Dairy Show Pioneer Award in 2013.

Patti was a proud grandmother who cherished every moment with her grandchildren, especially at her waterfront home in recent years. She passed away knowing that a fifth grandchild was on the way—a miracle following her oldest son and daughter-in-law’s 15-year journey through infertility. An avid quilter, she made dozens of blankets for the couples and children she treasured. Patti possessed a rare blend of strength and grace, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched. She will see the goodness of the Lord.

Joshua Hushon and his wife Casey of Watertown, Wisconsin; Jacob Hushon and his wife Wendy of Wrightsville, Pennsylvania; and Joseph Hushon and his wife Ashley of Airville, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her brother, David Thomas, and his wife Gail Smith Thomas of White Hall, Maryland, along with their family. Her cherished grandchildren—Toby, Beckham, Trace, and Dalton Hushon—were a constant source of joy in her life, and the family eagerly awaits the arrival of a fifth grandchild in July.

A private viewing for the immediate family will be held at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 West Broadway, Red Lion. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation services at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, 3135 Dublin Road, Street, Maryland 21154, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 2:00 pm. to 4:30 pm. and again from 5:30 pm. to 8:00 pm. Another visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, immediately followed by a funeral service at 10:30 am., officiated by her pastor, Tracy Duvall. Burial will follow in Jarrettsville Cemetery.
