Patti Jo "PJ" Dennis Obituary
Patti Jo (PJ) Dennis went on to her eternal resting place at the age of 69 at her home in Council Bluffs, Iowa on July 4th, 2025. She was born on May 1st 1956, in Council Bluffs, IA to Gary and Yvonne Dennis.
Patti grew up in Council Bluffs, she attended school at Rue Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Junior High, and Thomas Jefferson High School. She was part of the basketball, softball and tennis teams along with several other school programs. Patti loved sports and excelled in softball earning herself a full ride scholarship and continuing her career at the University of Nebraska-Omaha as a catcher. During her time at UNO they went on to win the 1975 AIAW (Women’s College World Series).
Upon graduating, Patti spent several years working in the Omaha area, eventually landing at Enron, who ultimately moved her to Houston, Texas. She worked for several different corporations as an IT Project Manager for 30 years until she retired. Patti lived in Houston for 40 years building a new community of friends involved in the Texas Music scene. Singers, songwriters, venue owners and managers, performers and technicians all new "PJ" on a personal level. Patti’s love of music became her new passion as she loved to dance and attend live events anywhere she could. She not only loved music but was also a selfless giver of her time and resources to many charities and causes close to her. She was extraordinarily proud of being on the board of directors for Raising a Hand for Rett.
Patti also loved to read, scrapbook, and travel. She has countless memories of all her travels, cruises and vacations with so many family and friends. Patti loved to take pictures and then scrapbook these memories. She lived life to the fullest and got to see a lot of the world. Patti also had adopted a black lab, Lucky. They were inseparable for over a decade as he was her pride and joy.
Patti was preceded in death by her father, Gary Dennis and the love of her life, Lucky.
Patti is survived by many who loved her including her mother, Yvonne Dennis, siblings Michael (Vickie) Dennis, Ron Dennis (girlfriend Maggie), Roger (Carla) Dennis, 9 nieces and nephews, and several other close relatives.
Visitation with the family Wednesday 6 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral service Thursday 11:00 a.m., all at Cutler-O’Neill Funeral Home. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Walnut Hill Reception Center, 1350 E. Pierce Street.
