Patti's obituary
Patti passed away April 27 after a week-long battle to recover from a severe heart attack. She was surrounded by her loved ones when her time on earth ended. Her husband of 42 years David, her son Ian and wife Kristin, her daughter Sara, and best friend Susan were all there with her through the week and at the end. She loved her kids, family, friends, pets, and beautiful flower gardens.
Patti was born March 28, 1956 in Cincinnati, OH and lived in the area her whole life. Her parents Richard and Doris had Kentucky and southern OH farm roots, and Patti always dreamed about getting a farm someday. She went to Woodward High School and U. of Cincinnati DAA program, and looked the typical 70s girl with long hair and bell-bottoms. She was beautiful. She married David in 1981, and raised her 2 kids in Finneytown and West Chester. She loved to garden, adopt and care for feral cats, hang out with her dog Scout, go antiquing with David, take long drives in the country, visit with her Woodward classmates at French Park, Summerfair, and especially playing with her grandkids. Patti had a very generous spirit and loved giving gifts, oftentimes showing up with $5 or a new ball or clothes for each of the grandkids. She would attach money to her garbage can lid as a thank you to the garbage truck workers. And anytime she became aware of a pressing need, she would drop everything to offer help. She was fiercely competitive, was a very good bowler, and a great cornhole player. She loved to laugh, and often loudly, and she loved being around people. She had many friends at the Walmart, TJ Maxx and Kroger checkouts.
After becoming pregnant for the first time, Patti never smoked or drank. She adopted a healthy diet for most of her life, being mostly vegetarian but also loved fish (especially salmon and Frisch’s fish sandwiches). She walked often and loved Keehner Park and the Wetlands lily pad lakes. On her last good day we got a malt at the Cone, and walked a mile around the lily pad lakes on a beautiful spring day.
