Patrick's obituary
July 3, 1987 – October1, 2025
Keeper of Joy, Bringer of Light
Patrick lived with extraordinary courage and joy, even while carrying the weight of lifelong illness. He loved openly and fully, and people loved him in return. His humor, his compassion, and his presence made the world softer and brighter for everyone who knew him.
In his final days, Patrick said he had finally discovered God’s purpose for his life — and with quiet certainty, he believed he had fulfilled it. To leave this world knowing one’s purpose, and knowing it was lived out, is a grace very few are given.
Patrick’s purpose was love — to embody it, to share it, to prove that even in suffering, joy can shine. He succeeded. He succeeded in every person who carries his memory, in every moment of laughter he sparked, in every act of kindness he gave without hesitation.
Patrick will be forever missed. His absence is boundless, but so is the love he leaves behind. His life was not defined by pain, but by joy, by purpose, and by the endless thread of love he wove into the lives of all who knew him
— a thread we now carry forward, weaving his legacy into our own.
There will be no visitation or funeral. A future Celebration of Life will be a joyful event is planned at which time his unique personality will shine through his many friends and family. In honoring a lifelong wish he had, to be an adventurer explorer and he requested a burial at sea.
He is survived by his mother, Karen Connor Coker and father, Spencer Keith Coker of Richland Hills, Texas. This sister Victoria Coker Allison, and brother’s James And Bradley Coker.
His grandmother Sonya Coker, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
His extended family included an immeasurable group of loving long term friends (30+ years) especially Chris Switzer, Tim and Izzy Hall and Martha Sanchez.
He had boundless friends all over the world, and he left it a far better place by his deep sense of social justice and the value of every person.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
He left his final words in a song, Bob Marley, Three Little Birds.
Don’t worry, be happy!
