Patrick's obituary

Patrick Glenn Clouse entered the world on December 2, 1982, the second of three sons born to Steve and Kay (Plattenberger) Clouse of Mount Vernon, Iowa. He left this world on July 22, 2022, at the age of 39.

As a child, Patrick was quiet and pensive with a broad vocabulary, who memorized easily. He was active at church, (AWANAS, youth groups). He spent two weeks every summer at East Iowa Bible Camp and even took his family there for Family Camp in 2021. Patrick always enjoyed being part of a team, participating in football, baseball, and wrestling. The Clouse House was a frequent hangout for school and neighborhood friends. Patrick was introduced to golf at an early age and enjoyed playing into adulthood especially with his dad and brothers. For several years, a Clouse boy would win the annual Parent Child Golf Tournament on July 4th; usually the one getting to play with their dad, which rotated. Patrick played on a Championship Men’s Eastern Iowa Golf Team and scored a hole in one.

Patrick graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 2001 where he lettered four years in golf. He attended Monmouth College, graduating in 2005 with a major in Business Administration. There he was active in the Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity, serving as chapter president in 2004. Following graduation, he moved to Chicago, where he worked for CH Robinson until 2018. In 2008, Patrick married Colleen Henry and in 2014, they happily welcomed a son, Patrick Joseph (PJ). They later divorced.

In 2018, Patrick entered Adult and Teen Challenge of the Midlands located in Colfax, IA, a Christian Discipleship and Recovery program. There he rededicated himself to his faith. In the re-entry phase, Patrick returned to work in the transportation industry in Omaha. The following year, through a church friend, Patrick met Arissa Teal-Kincaid and her daughter, La'Nysha. The couple married in October 2019. During the pandemic, when he was laid off, Patrick became a full-time server at Olive Garden. At the time of his death, he was a certified trainer and Service Pro at Olive Garden. He often said he enjoyed his job because it did not even feel like he was working.

Patrick was a friend to many. He was kindhearted and generous, had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. He had strong leadership skills and was competitive. The Chicago Bears and Cubs along with the Iowa Hawkeyes were his favorite teams. He was an excellent cook and took pride in all he made whether for a holiday dinner or treats for the kids’ club at church.
