Patrick's obituary
Patrick John Bacon was born in Riverside, CA just four days after his father, Barry Bacon, graduated from medical school. It was impossible not to like Patrick once you knew him. As a young child he never knew a stranger, and as he grew up, he made a point to look out for the unpopular and outcast kids. Children gravitated to him. Adults appreciated his courteous manners and good work ethic. He loved all kinds of music. He played the oboe in the Spokane Youth Orchestra during high school, and he enjoyed playing guitar. One of his biggest passions was reading. While he was incarcerated between 2003 – 2020, he read everything he could get his hands on. At one point, he had the entire Iliad memorized. He deeply appreciated poetry, specially that by Emily Dickinson, and he also wrote his own poetry, including a book of poems called Iron John. Patrick died Saturday, December 19th at the age of 36 in Thomson, Illinois. He is greatly missed by his mother and father, Shelley and Barry Bacon of Colville; his siblings Allison Bacon of Petaluma, CA, Kenny Bacon of College Place, WA, and Aubriann Bacon of Colville; his nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles; and all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been set up to honor Patrick’s life. Donations can be given for “Patrick’s Place,” a cottage that will house a homeless family. You may donate to patricksmemorial@gmail.com through PayPal, or call Shelley at 509-675-5003 for more information.
