Pat's obituary

Patricia Ann Withee, known as Pat by friends and family, passed away on November 1, 2023, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born on November 19, 1947, in LaSalle, Illinois, to Walter and Alma Gallup.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Alma Gallup, and brother Bill Gallup. She is survived by her loving husband, Henry, and their children: Kevin, Heide, Brian, Erek, Emmery, and Misty; brother Ronnie Gallup and sister Bonnie Roda. She was also a proud grandmother to Holden, Jordan, Jaxann, Erik, Garet, Logan, Lauren, Marcus, Lacy, and Camille.

She met Henry, the love of her life, while in Oklahoma and single with three young kids. Together they moved to Texas to raise their family and remained partners in love and life for 51 years. Pat was a hands-on parent that led by example and believed in hard work; whether it was yardwork on the ranch, working and feeding horses, or cooking and cleaning, she made sure it was done, and had zero tolerance for talk-back.

She managed the bookwork for their business until her passing, and in the 1990's found enjoyment with horses and spent many years working alongside Henry building their racehorse "hobby" into a second business. They traveled the country together hauling horses to racetracks. During this time, she met many of her closest friends, which she considered family.

Pat was always modest and proper, a stark contrast to the antics of Henry and her children. She took it well, and over the years developed her own sense of "feisty".

She traveled with Henry visiting friends across the country and never missed an opportunity to stop in a casino. The slot machines called her by name, and she frequently won. Henry was her love, and her life, and slot machines were her guilty pleasure.

Pat appreciated the simple things in life and was devoted to her family. She was proud of her children and grandchildren; Henry was her everything and she only had to be in his company to be happy. She enjoyed a good dinner of sauerkraut and sausage, and a Hostess Snowball would certainly put a smile on her face. But her favorite was morning breakfast fried eggs and pork cooked by Henry, just for her.

Pat will be desperately missed by all those that she left behind. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we say goodbye to a loving wife, an amazing mother, a doting grandmother, and dedicated friend.

The family requests that flowers and notes are sent to the Withee Family at 1435 Windmill Hill Lane, Cedar Hill, Texas 75104.

There will be a Celebration of Life at 12:30pm on Saturday, November 18th, 2023, at Thorntree Golf Club at 825 W Wintergreen Road, Desoto, Texas 75115. RSVP.
