Patricia (Patty)'s obituary
Patty Ann Thome, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, went peacefully to rest on February 4, 2023. Patty was born in Denton, Montana on April 21, 1926, to Avory W. Dehnert and Mary Bufka Dehnert.
Surviving are her husband of 72 years, Mark W. Thome, two daughters and two sons: Susan L. DeCarlo, and husband Joseph DeCarlo of Chico, California; Nancy C. Abreu and Nick Bomben of Concord, California; Robert M. Thome and Cissy Adams of Bothell, Washington; David R. Thome and Mayumi Thome of Redmond, Washington.
Patty attended grade school in Denton, and completed high school in Fairfield, Montana. While continuing her education at the University of Montana, she was a member of Tri Delta sorority, majored in sciences, and became a member of the Phi Sigma National Science Honorary. She graduated with a degree in bacteriology and a minor in chemistry. After graduation, she interned at St. Luke’s Hospital in Spokane, Washington, where she became certified as a qualified Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
Patty was truly interested in others, and as a result, she had countless friends in the many places she and her family lived. Her deep faith in God’s love made her especially aware of people in need of assistance, and she willingly gave off her time and resources to help them.
She volunteered at St. Madeleine Sophie Catholic Church for over fourty years and at Eastside Catholic High School for 17 years. Additionally, she served as co-president and president of St. Theresa Guild for several years, after having previously served as treasurer for many years.
Patty loved to read and had a special talent for learning all types of arts and crafts. She especially enjoyed oil painting, sewing, crocheting, macrame, tatting, knitting, and pastels. She spent countless hours completing projects in each of those areas. Even with all of those undertakings and her volunteer work, she always found some free time to sit and work math or science problems. Patty especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Her husband, kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids were her special joy.
Above all, Patty was extremely loving, giving, caring, forgiving, generous, sweet, funny, humble and God faring. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Services will be held at Saint Madeleine Sophie Catholic Church on Friday, February 17th at 11 AM with reception following.
