Patricia's obituary
Born July 21, 1947, passed into eternity, November 12, 2020. Longtime resident of Chicago, IL area, recently relocated to Raytown, MO. Patty is survived by her husband, George Bass; her children, Colleen Morley, Christopher Morley, Colette (Joseph) Lach, Brian (Karyn) Johnson, Patrick (Jacquie Beecher) Johnson. Blessed by her grandchildren; Caitlyn (Nicolas) Erlandson, Allison (Michael) Krivanec, Connor Fisher, Tucker (Kristine) Arbuthnot, Madison Bleu (Trevor Nickerson) Arbuthnot, Tyler Johnson, Cristian Torrejon, Kyle Johnson, Jade Johnson, Scarlett Johnson, Neve Reddy and Nolan Reddy and great –grandchildren, Bram Erlandson and Killian Krivanec. Sister of Kathleen (Rob) Wagner, Karen (Steve Sadowsky) Kister and Jacqueline (Peter) Campagnolo. Patty was preceded in death by her mother, Marianne Kister, her sister, Barbara Robles and her brother Kenneth Kister Jr.
Patty was a 1965 graduate of Lourdes High School in Chicago, IL and 1976 graduate of South Chicago Hospital School of Nursing. Patty was a Registered Nurse (RN) for 38 years, prior to her retirement, specializing in Critical Care, working in many Chicago area hospitals throughout her career.
As the originator of “Tuny & Shells”, “Mousey Surprise”, “Alfresco Lasagna” and the world’s worst meatloaf, Patty will not be missed for her ‘culinary skills’. She will, however, be missed for her love of music (especially The Doobie Brothers, Chicago, Neil Diamond and Jesus Christ Superstar) and her passion for reading; both of which she shared with her children and sisters.
A collector of all things decorative and unnecessary, Patty’s world was filled with colorful and interesting items, in recent years favoring a peacock motif. A lover of animals, she took every opportunity to spoil all the animals in her circle, especially the late Gizmo & Dora (cats) and her current dog, Mr. Wigglesworth.
Affectionately known as “Chatty Patty”, she is remembered for her ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, about anything, at anytime. Her favorite places included the Art Institute of Chicago, The Field Museum in Chicago and the café at Marshall Fields on State Street, Chicago. She loved to travel and was infamous for overpacking but having everything and anything possibly needed in case of emergency or ‘just because’. A regular at the legendary Southside Chicago nightspot “Erik the Red’s” during the early 1980s, Patty was known for her incredible dancing skills.
Patty lived a complex and interesting life, ultimately succumbing to Rapid Onset Parkinson’s Disease. Though the disease proved to be stronger than her incredible personality, she will be fondly remembered by her family and the lives she touched. Donations in her memory can be sent to Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at www.michaeljfox.org.
Cremation: private in Raytown, MO. Memorial and Interment: Chicago, IL, date TBD.
