Patricia's obituary

Patricia Veronica Stockhamer (Fagan) was born June 26, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York. Patricia entered eternal rest on 02/02/2026 in Shelby, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Catherine Coggins and John Fagan and spent most of her life in Tarrytown, New York.

She is survived by her siblings, Jack Fagan and Katherine Fagan Stenz; her daughters, Dawn Biddy (and her husband Martin), Cheryl Bongiorno, and Laura Bongiorno; and her ex-husband and lifelong friend Lee Stockhamer. Patricia was a proud Mema and Nana to John C. Teahan, Elizabeth King (and husband James), David Biddy, Christina Vaitkus (and husband Daniel), Matthew Biddy, Kenny Schmidt, and Sean Schmidt. She was also a devoted great-grandmother to DJ, Dominic, Carter, Dani, and Brighton, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Patricia was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Katie Rose Stockhamer. She was also predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Tom and Bob Fagan; her sister, Barbara; and her little calico cat, April. Her life was deeply shaped by love and loss.

Moved profoundly by the loss of her young daughter Katie, Patricia dedicated her life to helping others heal, becoming a social worker well into adulthood. She worked closely with the elderly and those in need of rehabilitation, providing therapy and care in a nursing home setting. Her compassion for life extended into every part of her own, including her decision to become a vegetarian, guided by empathy and respect for all living beings.

Patricia had a deep love for art, reading, classical music, and poetry, finding meaning and beauty in creativity and words. Her favorite poem was Starlings in Winter by Mary Oliver. Patricia delighted in a unique friendship with a raven named Zhou-Zhou at the Nature Center at Greenburgh, whom she visited often and spoke of fondly. Patricia loved Lay’s potato chips, Extra peppermint flavored gum, marzipan, and Breyers Butter Pecan ice cream. Her favorite song was Imagine by John Lennon. Patricia loved monarch butterflies.

Patricia will be remembered for her open mind, her curiosity, her resilience, and her unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, Patricia’s family asks that donations be made to the North American Butterfly Association.
