Obituary for Patricia Ann McKinney
Patricia Ann McKinney
November 4, 1955 – September 24, 2025
Age 69
It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Patricia Ann McKinney, who went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the age of 69.
Patricia was born on November 3, 1955, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Virgil and Dorothy Blythe. Her father, Virgil, preceded her in death, while her mother, Dorothy, survives her at the age of 96. Patricia was one of six siblings, alongside Larry Blythe, Jeffrey Blythe, Cornel Blythe, and Brenda Blythe. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Cassandra Blythe.
Patricia attended Purcell-Marion High School in Cincinnati and later graduated from Withrow High School in Madisonville, Ohio. At just 17, she became pregnant with her first child while still in school. Though her plans were altered, she refused to give up. She took summer classes and successfully graduated with strong grades—all while caring for her newborn son, Ray Scott McKinney. Soon after, she married Raymond McKinney, who was 19 at the time. Their marriage lasted decades until his passing in 2019. Together, they raised three children: Ray Scott McKinney, Stephen Alexander McKinney, and Candice Renee McKinney.
Patricia furthered her education in business school, earning certification in data entry. She built a career in banking, working in lockbox positions at U.S. Bank for over a decade, and later at Provident Bank and Fifth Third Bank. She was known for her professionalism, her impeccable style, and her dedication—walking to the bus each day in high heels and rarely missing work.
Patricia was gifted with a beautiful, powerful singing voice. She was often asked to sing solos in her school choir and was even approached with opportunities to sing professionally. However, her mother, Dorothy, encouraged her to stay on a path that kept her grounded, and she chose not to pursue it.
As a mother and grandmother, Patricia was sacrificial, supportive, and deeply loving. She was a proud grandmother to RayVaughn McKinney, Skylar Kelly, and LeBryan Kelly.
Patricia’s faith defined her life. She was a prayer warrior and intercessor, known for praying fervently—often six hours a day—lifting up her family, friends, and others before the Lord. She rarely missed a day of prayer, and when she spoke, her words carried wisdom, encouragement, and truth, guided by the Holy Spirit. The Lord Himself called her Mosa, and she walked boldly in that calling.
Beyond her faith and family, Patricia loved decorating and creating beauty in her home, finding joy in interior design and making spaces warm and welcoming.
Her family and cousins fondly remember her strength, humor, and honesty, recalling with laughter and love, “Don’t mess with Aunt Pat.” She was classy, feisty-with-love, and unafraid to speak truth, but always in a way that lifted others up.
The family of Patricia Ann McKinney would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the McKinney, Barnett, Blythe, Kelly, and Aviles families for their love and support throughout her last days.
Her love, faith, and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
Closing Words: As Patricia would remind us—accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, pray fervently without ceasing, and never lose faith, for through Him all things are made new. This is the lasting impression she leaves with us all.
