Background
My name is melody ,I’m my mothers only child I it was always just me and my mother until I had my children when I found out that my mother had passed away it destroyed me I had no idea how to go about setting up a funeral or a wake I especially had no idea how much it was going to cost me I was told by some people that this funeral parlors would work with me and that is not what happened what so ever I explained we had no life insurance my mom had a minimal amount of savings in her savings account what I mean was 62. Cents to be honest so at the end of meeting with the woman from the funeral parlor I was handed a itemized statement that had a total of 14,839 dollars that was due in full before the viewing I was in disbelief and went to the social security office to see what they would help me with some other local agency’s and what I could come up with out of pocket finally I was creamation was something I should see about and that seemed to make more sense right now my mother is still in this funeral parlor a year and 1 month later and I have been giving them what I can I have a remaking balance that I am trying to get together so I may finally get my mom’s remains and do a celebration of her life on my own just because we don’t have money does not mean that she should be sitting on some funeral home collecting dust my mom was kind sweet and she deserves to be laid to rest respectfully like all people should be if anybody can help with anything I am just trying to get her remains so that me and my children and my mothers close friends may give her a service that she deserves I can’t believe that there is not more help out there for families when this kind of thing happens thank you
