Patti's obituary
Patricia “Patti” MacDonald
May 7, 1941 – June 17, 2025
Patricia “Patti” MacDonald passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2025, surrounded by love and family. She was 84 years old.
Born on May 7, 1941, Patti lived a life filled with grit, grace, and deep devotion to those she loved. She made her home in Grants Pass, Oregon in 1977, where she raised her family and built a legacy of service, compassion, and quiet strength.
She was the proud mother of five children:
Paul Allen Barry, Rochelle “Shelly” DeAnn Muff, Trent Eugene Barry, Tracy James Barry, and Dana Lynn Obrymski.
Known lovingly as “Gram” to her 12 grandchildren and many bonus grandchildren—
Rayma Homran, Bryce Muff, Sky Peters, Damon Mattison, Meagan Roman, Nolan Barry, Jennifer Atwood, Matthew Pittman, Daniel Barry, Amanda Klotz, and Misha Barry—
and as “GG” to her 26 great-grandchildren, Patti was also the proud great-great grandmother of two.
She is survived by her sister, Ella Mae White of Bass Lake, California, and was preceded in death by her parents Evelyn Mae and Harry Lee Haacke, her sisters Mary and Donna, her brother Harry Lee Jr., and her grandson Collin Devon Barry.
For over 25 years, Patti was a dedicated school bus driver, many of those years spent serving children with special needs. She lovingly crocheted lap blankets for them, and when needed, quietly stepped in with a warm coat or pair of shoes. At 51, she courageously pursued a new career in medical transcription, working with Asante for the next 20 years.
Patti was as fierce as she was tender. Strong, witty, and unwaveringly authentic, she embraced life with honesty and heart. She sewed, crocheted, gardened, and raised not only children but meaningful conversations about what mattered. She was resilient, stubborn in the best way, and endlessly resourceful.
She always dressed with intention, wore her signature scent, and never left home without her pointy frosted lipstick. She loved to dance, to sing along to Anne Murray and Josh Groban, and to watch the hummingbirds in her backyard. Her little Pomeranian, Tuffy, was always close by.
She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. Patti’s legacy of love, strength, and authenticity will continue to echo in the lives she touched.
