Patricia's obituary
Patricia (Landry) Sanger, age 79, of West Boylston, MA and Lakeland, FL, passed away on Tuesday, June 21 after a long and courageous battle with COPD.
Pat was raised in Lunenburg, MA, daughter of the late Robert and Marjorie Capone. She was a 1961 graduate of Lunenburg High School where she earned the prestigious Margaret Harley award for her athletic achievements in both basketball and softball. She was a high honor roll student and was very popular with her peers.
Pat spent several years as a valued employee of the Ralph S. Foster & Sons Insurance Agency in Fitchburg before traveling the country as a military spouse, graciously hosting many armed forces dinner parties while raising her two children, Karen and Kevin. She spent many years in Boylston, MA before traveling to Texas, Georgia, Virginia, Colorado, and Hawaii, where she developed cherished friendships while working at the Punahou School of Music. In 2002, she settled in Lakeland, FL to share in the joy of caring for her granddaughters, Abby and Malia. Pat spent her later years living in West Boylston, MA with her sister Linda and brother-in-law Fred whose loving care provided her both the courage to fight and the comfort to bear her illness.
Pat was kind, compassionate, and loved by all who knew her. Her family was the source of her greatest pride and happiness. She made holiday celebrations special and was always up for a game of Chinese Rummy around the dining room table. When she wasn’t working on a crossword puzzle, she enjoyed golf, scuba diving, and sports, cheering on the Red Sox and as torn as many other New Englanders between the Pats and the Bucs.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Kevin Sanger, of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren, Abigail and Malia Sanger, and Sean and Mitchell Allen; three siblings, Donald Landry and his wife Barbara of Telford, PA, Linda Buckley and her husband Fred of West Boylston, MA, and Cynthia Rochette and her late husband Robert of Raymond, NH; her nieces and nephews Scott, Shane, Sherry, Jennifer, Sarah, and Laura; and grand-nieces and -nephews Camryn, Lexi, Tyler, Izzy, Teddy, and Olivia. She is predeceased by her daughter, Karen Allen.
Her family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Worcester VNA hospice nurses and healthcare workers for their compassionate care in Pat’s final months. No public services are planned. Those who wish to remember Pat in a special way are invited to contribute to the 22q Family Foundation in her memory.
