Pat's obituary
Pat was an insatiable traveller. Her first major trip was to Mexico by bus with her friend Shirley while they were young women living in Toronto in the 40s. She and her husband Ron travelled extensively; spending summers on the roads of North America while their children were young, and later cruising to all 7 continents during their years together. They were married in Toronto, then moved to the Ottawa Valley where Ron got his first teaching job and their two children were born. They spent the majority of their lives together in Arthur, Ontario. During her years there she volunteered at the county museum and the Op Shop and worked as a real estate agent. She also curled and attended Grace Church. She and Ron often hosted the high school teachers' holiday parties. They were blessed to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary together, but Ron passed away not long after. Pat then moved back to Toronto; first living with Ruth and then into a seniors' building. The COVID pandemic took a heavy toll on her. She caught the virus early on and seemed to have a mild course, however she suffered a steep cognitive decline after the infection. In the end, death brought her the peace she'd lost. A graveside service is tentatively planned at Ufford Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6. Due to COVID restrictions, RSVPs will be required. Details will be shared when they are confirmed.
