Patricia's obituary
Patricia Eileen Kurtz Dodson, age 93, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on March 15, 2026.
Patricia was born Patricia Eileen Kurtz in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of Alma Pauline Baugh and Kenneth Kurtz. She was born in the home of her maternal grandmother, Ira Baugh, a detail she treasured throughout her life. Pat graduated from Lima Central High School and later attended Frederick’s Beauty Academy.
On June 8, 1952, she married the love of her life, Harvey Alton Dodson. Their marriage of deep devotion and partnership spanned 67 years until Harvey’s passing in 2020. Soon after their marriage, Pat and Harvey made their home in Vero Beach, Florida, where they spent their lives faithfully serving Christ and their church family.
For decades, Patricia was an integral part of First Church of God—now Pathway Church—where the Dodson family had long-standing roots of leadership and ministry. Pat’s love for people was expressed through her gracious hospitality and her deep affection for children. She faithfully taught young children’s Sunday School classes for many years and served as leader of the church’s hospitality ministry, welcoming countless families and guests with warmth and generosity.
Those who knew Pat remember her as a gracious hostess, a devoted wife and mother, and a woman whose quiet faith was evident in the way she loved and served others. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and welcome, and her life reflected a sincere and steady devotion to Christ.
Patricia is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Mangnitz (Bernie) of Biloxi, Mississippi; her sons, Ken Dodson (Amy) of Indianapolis, Indiana, and William Jones (Catherine) of Victoria, Texas; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brother, Lee Kurtz (Darlene); and her sister, Charlotte Smith (Walter).
A joint Celebration of Life honoring both Patricia and her beloved husband Harvey will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 28, 2026 at Pathway Church in Vero Beach, Florida, with a reception to follow.
Patricia lived a life marked by faith, kindness, and faithful service. Her legacy continues in the lives of those she loved, the church she served, and the many hearts she touched.
