Patricia's obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia Smith (née DeSilva), who entered eternal rest on May 6, 2023. Born on October 10, 1959, Patricia dedicated her life to her family and community, leaving behind a rich legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Patricia is survived by her devoted husband, David Smith; her loving children, David Smith Jr. and Parker Smith; her daughters-in-law, Taylor Smith and Lauren Richmond; her siblings, Anne Smith, Michael DeSilva, Susan Clark, and Mary Vaught. She was predeceased by her brother John DeSilva, sister Kathleen DeSilva, and parents Jack and Kathleen DeSilva.

After moving to Houston, TX in 1968, Patricia met and married the love of her life, David Smith, in 1991. They welcomed their sons, David Jr. on November 18, 1993, and Parker on June 19, 1996. Patricia was a pillar of her community, volunteering for the Dulles Elementary School PTO, Dulles High School FCA, and serving as an Leader for her sons Cub Scout Dens and supporting the Sugar Land Little League her sons were very involved with in their youth.

Patricia enjoyed various recreational activities such as watching Wheel of Fortune, reading, and shopping. She cherished spending time with her family, indulging in her favorite drinks like margaritas, and savoring her preferred cuisine, Mexican food. Her favorite vacation spots included Galveston, South Padre, and New Orleans, and she had a penchant for Christmas movies, cookbooks, Jeopardy, and the Hallmark Channel.

Known for her welcoming, loving, and compassionate nature, Patricia made it her mission to treat everyone like family and ensure that they felt loved. One of her greatest accomplishments was the impact she left on her family, friends, and countless individuals she encountered throughout her life (and on the front porch AKA Patricia's late night talks). Whether over the phone, or face to face, she made sure to make every person she talked to knew they were loved and cared for.

A Viewing for Patricia will take place on May 11, 2023, at 5:00 - 8:00 PM at The Settegast-Kopf Company @ Sugar Creek. The Funeral services will be held the next day, Friday May 12, at 9:30 AM, at Sugar Land Methodist Church, followed by a Burial at 2:00 PM at Plainview Cemetery in Normangee, Tx. A Reception will be held afterward at 3:00 PM at the Lazy S Ranch nearby. Patricia's memory will continue to live on through her family, her kind heart, and her unwavering spirit.
