Patricia's obituary
Patricia Cruz (Swan), age 77, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, in Overland Park, Kansas. Born on November 4, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, Patricia embraced a life filled with warmth, travel, and treasured family connections.
Although she was born in Michigan, Patricia spent much of her life in Texas and proudly called it home. Drawn to sunshine and sandy shores, she found joy in beach days and relaxing by the pool. Her passion for travel was especially evident in the cherished girls’ trips that created lasting memories with those closest to her.
At the heart of Patricia’s life was her family. She shared a close bond with her daughter April Chapman and son-in-law Joe Chapman. Her granddaughters Lindsay Hoskins and Alyson Smallwood, along with Alyson’s husband Joe, brought her immense pride. Patricia also found great joy in her great-granddaughter Mila Hoskins. She frequently traveled to Missouri to be present for family milestones and everyday moments alike.
Patricia loved and treasured her relationships with Tristyn and Irelynn Gallegos, and Kayden Hernandez as she was honored to be a part of their lives watching them grow.
Patricia maintained a lifelong connection with her sisters Debbie Delcamp and her husband Mark, and Penny Swan along with many nieces and nephews. She held dear the memory of her late parents Jay and Caroline Swan, her brother Bob Swan, sister Maggie Krasiewski, partner Mike Gallegos, and son Danny LaVato.
She had a special talent for making holidays magical—especially Christmas. From festive decorations to heartfelt traditions, Patricia poured love into every detail, creating celebrations filled with warmth and joy.
Patricia’s legacy is one of sunlit travels, meaningful traditions, and deep devotion to family. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
