Patricia's obituary

Patricia Ann Capatino, 74, left us on Sunday, March 14, at her daughter’s home in Oklahoma, after battling dementia. The daughter of the late Pete Smith and the late Stella Mae Burton. Ann was born in Greenville, South Carolina, and grew up in Barstow, California. She moved to San Francisco, where she became a leader in the advertising industry. In 1972 Ann moved to Memphis, Tennessee, and became an Executive Assistant at the Holiday Inn Rivermont. She met her future husband Walter Thomas Capatino, and they married in 1973.

Ann and Walter lived in various cities in the United States, pursuing her commercial real estate management career, eventually settling back in Greenville, where they owned several successful restaurants. In 2000 they returned to Memphis, and Ann opened a mortgage company. She also began volunteering for Memphis in May and would, ten years later, become one of the top volunteer managers.

Ann leaves behind her husband, Walter Thomas Capatino; her daughter, Michele Capatino Fields and her husband, James David Fields; her son, Kris Thomas Capatino; and her sister Robin St. James. She also leaves three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. A Funeral Mass will be said on Saturday, April 24, at 10:00 A.M., at St. James Catholic Church in Memphis.
