Patricia's obituary
Our beloved mother, Patricia Bailey, passed away on January 9, 2026. She was laid to rest with her husband, Joesph Bailey, at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga.
Pat was born in Indiana in 1943 to David and Betty Plenn. She was raised in southern California with her younger brother David. The family eventually moved to Los Altos, California, where Pat attended Los Altos High School. Later she went to the University of Nevada at Reno and Stanislaus State University.
In 1973, Pat and Joe moved to Saratoga with their family. She lived in Saratoga for the rest of her life. In 1976, Pat worked as a secretary at Telos Consulting Services to earn book money for her paralegal studies. Pat took initiative to learn more about the business, impressing her manager and the people who worked with her. She was promoted to regional manager within a few years and later became Vice President of Telos. She retired in 1997.
Pat loved to travel. She and Joe visited Europe, China, Australia, South America, and Singapore. They traveled to Europe on the Queen Mary. They took cooking lessons in France and Italy and walked the Milford Track in New Zealand. After Joe’s death in 2013, Pat continued her travels with the travel group, Road Scholar. In 2023 she enjoyed a final trip to Italy with her son Dan and his family.
Pat served on Saratoga’s Heritage Preservation Commission. She took courses through OLLI at Santa Clara University. Pat delighted in taking photos and making photo books for family and friends. She loved to decorate her home with treasures from local consignment shops. Pat enjoyed attending theatrical productions in the Bay Area. She was also active in a senior group that made day trips to places of interest around northern California.
Pat loved to laugh. She was intelligent, witty, curious, and she dearly loved her family and friends. She is survived by her first husband, Jeff Johnson, her children, Rebecca and Dan, three grandchildren, her brother, David, her sister-in-law, Marianne, and her niece, Ruth.
We will miss her terribly.
