Patricia's obituary
Patricia A. Jenkins, a woman of great spirit and determination, unexpectedly passed away on August 25, 2024, age 87. Born on February 23, 1937 in Akron, Ohio, Patricia led a life filled with love and compassion! She was a beacon of strength and tenacity, leaving a powerful legacy.
Patricia is survived by her 3 children: her son David (Joanne) Jenkins of NC, her daughters Darla (Dan) Wisecup of SC, and Dena (Kevin) Ostrowski of WI. Her grandchildren: Paul (Tommy) Maddox, Stephanie (John) Donahue, Nicholas (Julie) Simonelli, Crystal (McKenzie) Hopper, Amber, Brieanna and Caven Ostrowski, 7 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and scores of adopted children and grandchildren. Mom would say “You don’t have to be blood to be family!” and she was proof of that. She was so loved by many that had the honor of calling her “Mom” or “Grandma”.
Patricia was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles R Jenkins, brothers, Ronald Swiger and Fred (Sonny) Couts, and sisters, Jean Loar, Carolyn Stoyanov, and Barbara Richards. Brothers in Laws: Loran Jenkins and Carl (Rolie) Jenkins.
A graduate from Central High School, Akron, Ohio in 1955 and married the love of her life June 16, 1956, and started her fabulous journey of being an Air Force Wife. She was extremely proud that her husband served from 1967-1977 on the Presidential Squadron at Andrews Air Force Base and loved sharing their adventures with anyone she crossed paths with.
Patricia has been described as a fiercely intelligent woman, hardworking, out spoken, feisty, strong-willed, independent, opinionated, caring and generous. She took pride in volunteering her time with the Greene County Parks & Trails and was a life member of the Enon VFW. Her hobbies included watching the birds, reading her favorite romance novels, shopping and of course watching Nascar. Patricia had an eclectic taste in entertainment and culture. She enjoyed the Nascar races, being a huge fan of Jeff Gordon, and cheered for the Cincinnati Reds, the Cleveland Browns, and the Washington Redskins at every opportunity. Her favorite performances were by Guy Penrod, who resonated with her love for her favorite song “Loving God Loving Each Other.”
Patricia took immense pride in living a life of authenticity and integrity. Her life's greatest lessons included the importance of being oneself and the value of honesty. She was described as capturing the hearts of everyone around her with her radiant personality and her humor. A devout patriot, Patricia cherished her love for the country, the Military and had the ability to love unconditionally. These were amongst her greatest accomplishments. She also deeply cared about causes like Tunnels 2 Towers, Hospice and the military.
Patricia’s ashes will be buried next to her husband on October 19th, 2024, at 11 AM at Enon Cemetery, 6013 Dayton Springfield Road Enon, Ohio 45502. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 20th, 2024, from 2-5 PM at Rocky Lakes Golf Course Banquet Room, 3950 Springfield Xenia Road, Springfield, OH 45506.
Patricia (Pat) Jenkins, a beacon of strength and love, leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and resilience. Her memory will be forever cherished by those fortunate enough to know her. Her loss is devastating to those left here on earth but knowing she is in heaven with Jesus and all those gone before her brings comfort.
