Pat's obituary

Patricia Ann Southard-Grant 70, of Carlton Ave Mexico, ME passed away peacefully at home where she wanted to be due to a few long-term illnesses on April 29, 2022.

Pat was born in Portland, ME on September 20, 1951, the daughter of the late Joseph M. Grant Sr. and Alice R Small-Grant. Pat attended Portland schools, she loved being a homemaker and enjoyed being surrounded by her family, friends, and many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her late husband John C. Southard Sr.

Pat sadly leaves behind her sisters Helen Hodgkin and husband Paul of Limington, ME, and Winfred Durrah, and husband Donald of Zephyrhills, FL. Pat also leaves behind her 11 children, between biological, step, and adopted children. Marie (Angel) Michaud and her husband Rick of Mexico, ME, Donald (Charlie) Staples Jr. and wife Betsy of Portland, ME, Tammy Gillespie and her boyfriend John of Portland, Jennifer Southard-Rockwell and husband Kevin of Mexico, ME, Patricia Southard-Ordway of Portland, ME, Kendra Southard of Biddeford, John, Harold, Courtney Southard all of Portland, ME, and Mary Haskell-Southard of Biddeford, ME.

Pat has now also reunited with her sisters Donna L. Bennett, Barbara Knight, Joseph Grant Jr., and Michael J. Grant Sr.

Pat also leaves behind many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren that loved and enjoyed being around her very much, and Pat has also left behind 3 beautiful, and loyal great best friends of 44 years Theresa Moore-Haycock, Cheryl Moore-Forest, and Louise Moore-Shaw. Pat my beautiful mother was an amazing woman, she was very well-liked and loved by so many people that she came in contact with throughout her life. Pat's smile was contagious and lit up the whole room... Pat was also a mom not only to her 11 children but to their friends as well. All her children's friends call her Ma Pat and she always made sure that all the children ate and were cared for as if they were her own.

Pat's celebration of life turned out very well. I am now doing this fundraiser so that we will be able to have a plaque or her name added to her mother and father's headstone so people can have a place to go visit or pay their respects.
