Patricia's obituary
Pastor Patricia Maria Allwood-Williams passed peacefully surrounded by her family at NYU Winthrop Hospital the morning of July 30, 2021, at age 58.
Patricia M. Allwood and Patrick Courtney Williams joined in holy matrimony on June 30, 1984. Together they had four children; Martel B. Williams; Christina A Williams Brown: Gabrielle Williams; and Emmanuel I. Williams.
It has been said that the value of a life is computed not by its duration but by its donation. Pat, affectionately known as Joan and Cookie; was born to Olga Carby and Albert Allwood on April 5, 1963, in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies.
As a child, Pat loved to visit with friends and cook (hence the name Cookie). She was athletic and outgoing. She valued being around her grandfather, Bishop Carby, often following him to and from conferences and other services. Pat was raised in a Christian home by her grandparents, Bishop Martel and Hannah Lurline Carby.
Patricia left Jamaica as a teenager to come to America and live amongst her mother and other siblings. She worked tirelessly to attain her degree first from high school and then went on to higher education.
“Study to show thyself Approved…” 2 Timothy 2:15 if you knew her then you would’ve heard her quote this scripture at least once.
Pat valued education and was indeed a life-long learner. She instilled the importance of studying to her peers, Sunday school students, youth members, choir members, children, and grandchildren in their educational pursuits. She encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Pursue dreams that highlighted black excellence, illuminating our royal priesthood, embracing who we are and who we are created to be. Black and comely.
Patricia herself carried the mantle of black excellence. She graduated from York College of the City University of New York with a Bachelors' Degree in Education. Patricia, completed her Master of Arts Degree at City College in Special Education while maintaining a household that consisted of two children and a spouse; and, teaching as a special-Ed teacher for Department of Education: NYC. Patricia continued to teach for 25+ years until God told her to retire.
Patricia also completed her Ministerial Studies to become an ordained pastor in the New Testament Church of God.
At a young age, Pat came to know the Lord as her savior. She held an unwavering faith in God. She ministered the word of God fervently to willing and unwilling parties alike. Having proven God over and over, pastor Pat was relentless in witnessing to souls with the hopes of bringing them to the knowledge of Christ, so it should be of no surprise that Pat divulged in the ministry full time.
She came to call a few ministries home: First Holiness Church of the Apostolic Faith; Lifeline Pentecostal Church; Queens Village Church of God, until leading her own ministry: The Anointed Church of God.
Although the doors of The Anointed Church of God closed, the ministry continued. Pastor Pat, went back to complete a divine assignment at Lifeline Pentecostal Church of God.
Pastor Pat was not above serving in any ministry, if it was the will of God then she obeyed. Wherever there was a need, she served passionately and purposefully.
Throughout her ministry, Pastor Pat served as a pastor; as an associate pastor; she ministered as a leader in the Sunday School, Ladies Ministry, Youth ministry, women’s Choir, Family Training, Marital Training, Pastoral Training, New Convert classes, Vacation Bible School, and Outreach Ministries.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother to her children, she often sought ways to help children in general, but her heart was always with the less fortunate ones. Her call was to help young people and it was evident in everything she did; from her professional career as a teacher to the programs, she put together for young children. During the pandemic in 2020 Pastor Pat put together a children’s line where she encouraged young children to divulge in the word of God, learn about themselves, and educate themselves.
John in Revelation 14:13 said I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, "Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them." Pastor Williams is now at rest after laboring in the vineyard of the Lord.
Those blessed enough to have known Patricia M. Allwood Williams, knew compassion, felt supported, were encouraged, received wise instruction; felt the warmth of a loving mother, grandmother, sibling, aunt, daughter, colleague, spiritual warrior, and friend.
Her determined pursuit of Holy living and soul-winning is a testament to all.
Pat joins her daughter Gabriella, her mother Olga, her grandparents Martel and Hannah Carby, and other family members and friends in heaven. She is survived by her husband Patrick Williams; sons Martel and Emmanuel Williams, and daughter Christina Williams-Brown; seven grandchildren Amari, Adrian, Alonzo, Abigail, Eli, Elena, and Abel; siblings, in-laws; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pastor Williams has fought the good fight; she has finished the race and kept the faith. Now she awaits her crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give her on that day (2Tim 4:7-8a).
