Patricia's obituary
12/13/1942- 10/2/2024
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting a donation to the American Cancer Society.
A 75-year resident of Levittown, Long Island, she was a Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Sister-in-law, Mother and Grandmother in law, Aunt and friend, and was loved by many. She is survived by her daughter Dawn Kane (James Fullam), son Matthew Kane (Linda), grandchildren William Diana, Samantha Warren (Matthew), Sean Kinsley (Holly), Victoria Kane (Lou), Ryan Kinsley, Kristian Patrick Kane(namesake) and Great- Grandsons Carter Christopher and Ryder Partrick(namesake). She predeceased her beloved brother Brian Keena (Mary), Sister Kathleen Keena-Pepe, Sister-in-law Louise Kane, In-laws Kathy and Carl Eberhart and Jennifer Kane and many nieces and nephews, with whom she loved.
Often described as the “tough Irish Battle Ax” or the “Helm of our family ship”, she was a fighter and a strong advocate for her family. She valiantly fought lung cancer for 7 years, having gone into remission for 5 years only to have a recurrence 2 years ago, in which she fought until the bitter end. Her smart facetious jocular sense of humor will never be forgotten. She remained mentally sharp until her final hours of her life and shared great conversation in the final weeks and days of her life. In the final days she was surrounded by many of her family members and close friends.
In life she worked at Meenan Oil and Citibank where she acquired many lifelong friends, that she loved. Her spare time was usually spent on a football or Lacrosse field as she participated and cheered relentlessly for her grandchildren. The college Lacrosse coaches knew “Grandma Pat” by name, and she would proudly display her team on the magnet she had on car or her “Grandma” Team shirt. When it came to her grandchildren, she never missed a beat. Luckly, her young great grandsons got to meet the beloved “Grandma Pat”. Some of the best times she spent was having barbeques with family members or visiting with her in laws out in Moriches. Her legacy will live on in all those she loved.
