Pat's obituary

Patricia Ann (Hayes) Kennedy was a lovable, indomitable force who left us too soon. Pat was a successful engineering and scientific applications computer programmer, an expert at repairing vintage printers, and a natural at many things. Humble and kind, she never bragged about being homecoming queen and high school valedictorian. Pat was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University (1972), the first in her family to graduate from college. Pat went on to run the family business, Ohmega Computer Services, for five decades.

Patricia Kennedy was born on February 9, 1950 in Coshocton, Ohio. She is survived by her husband Dr. James C. Kennedy, Jr. of Worthington, OH; children Kate Kennedy (Matt) and Tim Kennedy (Kaitlyn), also of Worthington, OH; stepchildren Mike Kennedy (Antoinette) of Detroit, Erin Kennedy of Columbus, Maureen Perez (Frank) of Springboro, OH, and Bronwyn Trujillo (Carmelo) of San Antonio, TX; sisters Kathy Bayer (Patrick) of Tucson, Susan Hayes of Delaware, OH, and father Homer Hayes (Shirley) of Xenia, OH.

Patty lit up the room at family gatherings. Never one to miss a party or grandbaby arrival, Pat lived a sweet, memorable life in Worthington, Ohio and on Fripp Island, South Carolina. When on Fripp, she loved a vibrant sunset and golf cart rides with Jim, her husband of 42 years. She enjoyed traveling, collecting National Parks Passport stamps, bowling, playing cards with friends, and spending cherished time with her children and grandchildren.

A beloved mom, grandmother, wife, and friend, Pat will be missed and remembered fondly. She touched so many in her extended family, including 13 grandchildren and a new grandbaby due November 2020, whose arrival she was eagerly anticipating. Pat is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. Her death was sudden, but she was surrounded by family when, after suffering a massive stroke, she went peacefully on August 31, 2020 to join her mother, Ruth Hayes, in heaven.

The family will hold a celebration of life in Pat’s honor at a later date, when COVID-19 conditions are safe. For now, Pat’s spirit and life can be honored in three ways. First, please post a picture or story to https://tinyurl.com/rememberi…, which will be used to create a virtual slideshow and book for Pat’s family. You can also email your memories or private notes to the family at rememberingpatkennedy@gmail.c…. Finally, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Nationwide Children’s Hospital to supply toys for families in need.
