Pandora's obituary

Pandora Althea Burris was born on September 12, 1952, to the late J. V. and Clarice Vauss Burris. She departed this life on February 3, 2026. Pandora attended Cleveland Community College (CCC) and earned Associate Degrees in computer programming and childhood education. While in attendance at CCC, she made the Dean's List and was listed in the Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges in 2005. She was inducted into the Cleveland Community College's chapter of the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society. This national organization emphasizes service, character, and scholarship. She loved being a childcare provider for infants to pre-school children. She retired as an Assistant Director of a local day care after many years of service. She volunteered at the People That Love Center for many years until it closed. She attended church at the First Assembly of God in Gastonia, NC in person until her health declined and then she viewed the services online. Pandora was incredibly close to her family and friends and tried her best to support anyone in need at all times. Pandora loved being an aunt to her many nephews and nieces and their families. She loved all things pink. She loved traveling with family and friends and took many trips and cruises over the years. Pandora was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph, by her parents, and two brothers-in-law. She is survived by one brother, Carl A. Burris (Gloria) of Ranlo, N.C., two sisters-Dr. Barbara Neequaye of Charlotte, N.C. and Katherine McDowell of Stanley, N.C, four nephews, two nieces, four great-nephews, five great-nieces and host of great-great nephews and great-great nieces, one aunt, one uncle, many cousins, in-laws, and friends.

Services

Quiet hour from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM. Funeral will follow quiet hour at 1:30 PM on February 11, 2026
