Celebration of Life for Pam

August 23, 2025 at 5:00.

Seven Lakes State Park (Fishermen’s Cove Pavilion) 14390 Fish Lake Rd. Holly, MI  https://share.google/sXUzn2EJcFqbviEz3

Born in 1953, the second child and only daughter of Ronald and Bette, she spent her early childhood in Iron River, MI. Later, the family would move to what is now Burton, MI. There she attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School until its closing in 1970.

After graduating  from Bendle High School in 1971. Pam married Emery ‘Guy’ Oyler. They soon had two children, Tonya in 1972 and Scott in 1974. Pam and Emery, a member of the United States Army, were stationed to several locations across the United States and Germany.

In 1980, Pam embarked on a career in nursing, first working at Flint Osteopathic Hospital as an LPN. She later graduated with ADN Nursing in 1992 and held positions at Genesys Hospital and Specialty Select Hospital, before retiring in 2018.

Of her roles in life, it was those of Mom and,  then, Grandma (Mykal 1995, Dylan 1998, Ethan 2011) that Pam cherished most. Inspiring, strong, forgiving, steadfast, and fiercely protective , she was a single, working mom who managed to earn a degree without missing any sporting event, play, or concert. Everything she did in life was for family. Pam had a love that knew no bounds.  And, that love extended to the rest of her family as well. Brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles, she believed family is the most import thing anyone could ever have. And, she loved to spend time and visit with everyone.

Pam was an avid reader. She also enjoyed building puzzles and crocheting in her spare time. Her love of travel took her to Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, Canada, and Mexico. She had visited 49 states. Her last big trip was her first trip to Hawaii—a cruise that she said had been the best vacation experience of her life. Unfortunately, she was not able to fulfill her dream of visiting Alaska. It was the very last thing on her ‘bucket list’.

Asked what her ideal day would entail, she said, “sitting on the beach reading a book.” Some of her other favorite things were…camping, Lake Michigan, summer tomatoes,  Blake Shelton, Gone With The Wind, hot tea, seafood, Chinese, BBQ, Tom Hanks movies, NCIS, her animals, asparagus, watermelon, her great-grand-babies, family traditions, Diet Coke, playing Monopoly and Risk with Mykal and Dylan, everything about Christmas and its music, snowmen, chocolate, red licorice, black jelly beans, tinsel, playing Ticket to Ride and Trouble with Ethan, being a nurse, yellow roses, birch trees, hot air balloons, going to the movies,  S’mores, fall leaves, and family gatherings.

Pam was best described as loving, honest, loyal, accepting, and genuine. To all who knew and loved her, she demonstrated how to love without judgment—a testament to her true character and the loving legacy she leaves behind.
