Pamela's obituary
Pamela Marie Musser, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2024, at the age of 77. She was born on September 28th, 1946, in Lititz, Pennsylvania, and in 1956 moved to Venice, California, where she spent her childhood and early adulthood before moving to Arlington, Texas in 1980.
Pam’s professional life was as rich, full, and varied as her talents and interests. She retired from Lockheed Martin in Grand Prairie in 2012 as a Lead Software Quality Engineer, having worked in similar roles for Vought, LTV and Loral. Pam got her start in aerospace working as a Data Analyst for NASA in the ‘70s and loved telling stories about her work on the Space Shuttle project. In the mid-90s, inspired by her love for animals, Pam earned an AAS from Dallas College Mountain View and spent several years working as a veterinary technician, a time of her life that she recalled with fondness and pride.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Pam was an avid crafter, gardener, and artist. She found particular joy in dyeing and spinning wool, weaving blankets and shawls, and knitting. Many of her family and friends continue to celebrate her life and art by wearing the garments that she made and gave to them.
Pam had a keen wit and a mischievous sense of humor. She is remembered by her friends and family as a kind, caring, and spirited woman with a strong sense of justice and a great deal of care and concern for others. In that spirit, Pam asked that her remains be donated to science and that her ashes be returned to her family.
Growing up, Pam spent a great deal of time in the ocean. Her mother Dorothy taught Pam and her brothers Ned and Joe to swim in the Pacific near the Venice Breakwater and Pam spent a lot of time as a girl in the water off the beaches in Santa Monica and Malibu. She learned to scuba dive in 1987 and made several trips to the Flower Gardens in the Gulf of Mexico in the years that followed. According to her wishes, Pam’s ashes will be scattered at sea, a fitting return to the place she loved best.
Pamela is survived by her daughter Julie Gabriel and son Ian Connally, three grandchildren, Gia, Max, and Vivian, three great-grandchildren, Carrie, Lucy, and Evelyn, and nephew Nevin Musser. In death, she is reunited with her mother and father, Dorothy and Mahlon Musser, brothers Joe and Ned, and son Chris. Pam’s spirit lives on in the hearts of everyone who loved her.
A celebration of Pamela’s life will be held at The Usual, 1408 W. Magnolia Avenue, Fort Worth on Sunday, April 14th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Pam’s memory to your local animal rescue organization.
