Background
My mother, Pam, had a mole removed earlier in the year which was melanoma. Last week she suddenly became confused and hallucinating. After tests, the doctors explained that the cancer had metastisized to Mama's brain, spinal cord, lungs, and abdomen. I was told she wouldn't make it more than minutes Thursday around 5 pm when Duke transferred her to the Neuro ICU. She went through a painful lumbar puncture and spinal tap during the initial phases of trying to determine if it was an infection or cancer. Not wanting to see her in any more pain and with the doctors explaining that it would not alter the ultimate outcome because at this point there is nothing they can do, she was transferred to hospice and is now resting peacefully. She had nothing in place for her end of life, so I am covering the expense as much as I can, but am asking if you are able and would like to donate, I would appreciate it greatly, so that I can give her a proper service to honor her memory. I am just a few weeks away from my due date and have been out of work this past week to be by her side, but I'm going to need to go back to work next week unless a miracle occurs between now and then for her arrangements. I would love to be able to not leave her side. The last time mom and I talked before this happened, she was so excited to plan a baby shower and meet her new grandbaby due September 7th. Life sure can take a turn. If you aren't able to donate, please share your best memories, pictures, whatever you feel, and please keep us in your prayers. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to experience by far...
