Pamela's obituary
Pamela Veronica Jordan was born on September 12, 1938, in Georgetown, British Guiana, to Anita and George Anderson.
She attended St. Angela’s School in Georgetown, after which she completed clerical school and began her career as a stenographer and secretary. Pamela worked at Sandbach Parker, the Venezuelan Embassy, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the United Nations Development Program where she retired after more than twenty-five years of dedicated service.
Pamela met her beloved husband, Harry Jordan, at Sandbach Parker, where they both worked. They were married on September 12, 1959, and shared 56 years of loving marriage until Harry’s passing on December 4, 2015. From their union came two daughters, Simone and Maria, whom they loved unconditionally.
Affectionately known as Pam, Aunty Pam and PJ, she and Harry were well-known in Georgetown for hosting lively and memorable gatherings. Their home was often filled with laughter, music, and the delicious aroma of Pam’s cooking. She was a talented cook and gracious host who took joy in bringing people together around her table. Hospitality came naturally to her, and those who had the pleasure of attending one of her events never forgot the warmth and generosity she extended. She was also known for sending encouraging messages, prayers, and uplifting thoughts to her friends and family.
Pam migrated to the United States and primarily resided in Brooklyn, New York, while occasionally spending months at a time in her beloved homeland of Guyana.
Pamela leaves to mourn: her devoted daughters, Simone McBean and Maria Jordan; her cherished grandchildren, Ongelle, Marissa, Kevin, and Sean; her beloved great-grandson, Ethan; her nieces, Verna Mayo and Faylyn Monticeuex; and her son-in-law, Vince McBean. She was preceded in death by her brother and sister, Kenneth and Vilma.
